Resilience: a filter to see life

A key tool to live in balance is to define, in each situation, your priorities and work according to them. In this quarantine, I chose that what was truly important was our physical and emotional health; and the goal was to build resilience.

During the quarantine, my family and I had to make many adjustments to adapt to the new reality because our routine was completely different. Explaining to the children, honestly, what was happening and why we had to stay home and drastically change our dynamics, was our priority; we choose to identify the blessings that we enjoy and remain in a state of gratitude, which generates calm and makes it easier to identify possible solutions to the problems that have been presented to us.

Another great decision we made was to prevent the difficulty that coexistence represents from continuing while we are at home carrying out different activities: virtual classes, teleworking, household and school chores; changes in our income and having vulnerable relatives in another country, translate into despair, a bad mood and, even less, in some type of violence. We chose to be close and closer than ever, understanding that if we didn't deliver excellent performance, as we always try to do, at this point it wouldn't matter. We trust that, in due time, life will give us the opportunity to recover learn and produce more.

As a team and collaboratively, we begin to share and seek solutions to the problems that have arisen. We never lost faith in God, because we believe in Him, in ourselves, and in life. During this quarantine, three of us have had a birthday, my son graduated, and even though we couldn't celebrate it as we would have liked, we invented ways to keep the joy, because we understand that being happy is also a decision.

Little by little, we have been adapting and reorganizing. We told ourselves that the important thing was our physical and emotional health, and we have fulfilled it! How? Maintaining a positive attitude, learning, and appreciating the good in each situation, and you know what? we have also achieved wonderful performance in all our activities.

If possible! It is a matter of commitment and determination. Accept what you cannot change, but remember: you always have the power to choose that difficult or challenging situations do not become traumatic experiences in your life, but rather opportunities to develop valuable powers such as resilience.
