Our children, our teachers

The human being can decide the life he wants to live. In many of my articles, I have commented on the fascination that this power produces in me.

There are really extreme situations, in particular this one generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which generates deep uncertainty, fear, drastic changes in routine, in the way the world has traditionally worked. So, you have to choose if you give up or if you fight to survive and come out stronger from the experience, discovering that you had that great power that you did not imagine.

I want to share with you a conversation I had a few days ago with my children that started with this question:

- How is life for you?

And they answered:

- Well, sometimes it's hard, sometimes it's easy. We would say that life is interesting.

I told them: very good and what do you do when it is easier?

- We enjoy it and give thanks.

- And what do we do when it gets difficult, like now? I asked.

- Well, when something causes us to fear or makes us suffer, sometimes we feel very bad, we get angry or cry, but later, we accept it, we understand that we have to learn from the experience, we become stronger and let it go. , mom. The most important thing: we trust in God, in life, and in ourselves, because we know that everything will be fine.

And if, as much as they want to do all that, they feel they can't, what do they do? I asked.

- We ask for help, they answered.

I would like to share with you that my son worked very hard all year for his graduation. In addition, he had to adapt to the virtual education system and manage it successfully, in the midst of a situation of profound instability and changes so as not to lower his performance. And, despite doing everything with so much effort, the most anticipated day of 2020 arrived and there was no graduation. My son is one of those millions of people who were waiting for that great moment. And, the truth is, we have all felt that someone or something that we deeply desired or loved was taken away from us. This, generally, we cannot avoid because it does not depend on us. But it is our responsibility to decide what we do in the face of that circumstance. My children's answers in the previous dialogue are a reflection of what they have heard and seen at home. And I celebrate, that although there was no graduation, my son took these beautiful photos that we publish today, with the suit that he would have worn, to remind us that we are making history and that he has absolute confidence that everything will be fine.

And you, are you ready to choose the glasses with which you want to see your life, trust, and smile because you know that everything will be fine?
